The suffocating heat and wetness slapped them on the face as soon as the LASFS group got off the vactrain. Next, they noticed the turmoil at Shanghai Macro Station. Crowds rushed and buzzed around fleeing from the devastation left by the last typhoon.

The heavy rain had caused the overflow of the Yangtze (north) and the Quiantang (south) and flooded the big urban cluster shaped by the triangle of hanging cities Nantong, Shanghai, and Hangzhou leaving all that huge area under a thick layer of stagnant water and mud.

Still, temperature was high. The weather was boiling hot, much worse than in LA. The group immediately drenched with sweat; all but Boson, who wore the Tomcat outfit under the khaki Chinese coveralls.

El calor y la humedad sofocantes abofetearon al equipo LASF en cuanto descendió del tren de vacío. Justo después, el equipo reparó en el revuelo de la macroestación de Shanghai. La muchedumbre zumbaba por todas partes agitada por la prisa, huyendo de la devastación que dejaba tras de sí el último tifón.

La lluvia torrencial había causado el desbordamiento de los ríos Yangsé (al norte) y Qiantang (al sur), inundando el cúmulo urbano que conformaba el triángulo de ciudades colgantes de Nantong, Shanghai y Hangzhou, cubriendo la gigante área metropolitana con una capa gruesa de fango y agua estancada.

Con todo, la temperatura era alta. El calor era extremo, mucho peor que en Los Ángeles. El grupo se empapó en sudor de inmediato; todos salvo Boson, que vestía el traje de poder Gato Tom bajo su mono de faena caqui.
